From body to pattern

Posture, shoulder slope, balance, the way you move — all of it is read before any of it is written down. The pattern is built around the body.

The fitting

The first fitting is rough cloth and white basting thread — the garment meeting the body for the first time. Nothing is being corrected here; this is where it begins to listen. It usually happens more than once.
